Recognition Awards

The following Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation awards are available to all Academy members. The annual application deadline is February 1 unless otherwise noted. The amount of the award is determined by investment return of the fund endowment.

Abbott Nutrition Alliance Award

This award will recognize up to four Academy members on an annual basis working in a hospital setting who have made a significant contribution to improve awareness of malnutrition and taking action to address the issue. The award will provide a $1,400 recognition prize for each recipient.

Abbott Nutrition Award in Women's Health

This award is given to recognize dietitians who make significant contributions to the importance of nutrition in women's health.

Contributions may be in the areas of research, education or service. Award amount: $1,000.

Margene Wagstaff Fellowship for Innovation in Dietetics Education

This award is given to recognize individuals who inspire entry-level dietetics professionals to pursue professional values. Award amount: up to $3,000.

Mary Abbott Hess Award for Recognition of an Innovative Food/Culinary Effort

This award is given to encourage dietetics professionals to make original and innovative efforts in food and culinary education. Award amount: $1,000.

Mary P. Huddleson Memorial Award

This award is given to recognize an outstanding article published in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics during the previous year. Award amount: $1,000.

Elaine R. Monsen Memorial Award for Outstanding Research Literature

This award is given to recognize an outstanding body of research literature in the field of dietetics, food and nutrition.

  • Published author selected by committee

Anita Owen Award of Recognition for Innovative Nutrition Education

This award is given to encourage development of and recognize excellence in innovative and unique models for dietetics information and/or innovative services for delivery of nutrition education to the public. Award amount: $1,000.

Pittsburgh Dietetic Association Leadership Development Award

This award is given to recognize emerging leaders among current graduates of supervised practice programs in the Pittsburgh area and to encourage their participation in association activities. Award amount: $1,000.

Abbott Nutrition Award

Judy Ford Stokes Memorial Award for Innovation in Administrative Dietetics

This award is given to encourage further development in administrative dietetics in saving money or generating revenue or in food service facility design. Award amount: $1,000.

Margaret Dullea Simko Award for Excellence at a Clinical Poster Session

This award is given to recognize quality poster sessions at the Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo and encourage high-quality poster session admissions in the future. Award amount: $300 and $150 for runner-up.

Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation Corporate Award

This award is given to recognize and express appreciation to corporations or corporate foundations, which have a long history of support of Foundation programs and projects.

Food and Culinary Professionals DPG Communication and Education Fund

This fund was established to provide funding for two distinct purposes: to create and support lectureships and to provide awards to support individuals with an interest in the mission of FCP in their participation in culinary learning educational experiences.
