Our pediatric specialty care hospital – Shriners Hospitals for Children Chicago – has a continual aim to serve healthy food options for our patients, families, staff and guests in our cafeteria. Additionally, our registered dietitians work with patients individually to ensure they have a nutrition plan catered to their specific needs.

To celebrate Food Day 2016, our hospital’s nutrition services staff served up two delicious vegan items: pasta primavera and sweet potato and hummus soup (photos attached). Overall, nearly 20 percent of the food products purchased at the Chicago Hospital are locally sourced! We’re proud to join the effort “to make changes in our own diets and to take action to solve food-related problems in our communities!”
