The Healthy Cities Initiative has been a valuable program for our participating schools and their communities. The four main components for the Healthy Cities program (fresh food, physical activity, healthcare resources, and access to benefits outreach) has become the model for all of our School Markets due to the success of the program in the past few years. Offering these resources in a convenient and centralized location eliminates many of the barriers school families are faced with, including time and transportation. Being a part of the implementation of this program and watching it grow and flourish has been incredible. I am so fortunate to have such great community partners, a wonderful team here at the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, and the support of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation, Feeding America, and Morgan Stanley.

The Future of Food Tossed Treasures toolkit presentations provided my attendees simple tips for decreasing the amount of food waste in their own homes. Many community members were surprised at how easy reducing their personal food waste could be.
