The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation Fellowship program funds and deploys dynamic, registered dietitian nutritionists to remote corners of the globe to conduct research and provide nutrition education by investing in outcomes that improve and sustain nutritional health locally and globally. Foundation Fellows are Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics member RDNs who are selected through a rigorous application process and work over a set period of time to conduct vital work for a particular project.
Foundation Fellowships are funded through collaborations to achieve mutual priorities and goals that align with the Foundation’s mission and principles. Organizations like Garden’s for Health International partner with the Foundation to access and deploy quality food and nutrition practitioners for their projects. Janice Giddens, MS, RDN, LD, was the Foundation’s first Gardens for Health International Fellow in Rwanda. During her fellowship, she developed and implemented an antenatal nutrition pilot curriculum reaching hundreds of women and families and participated in Ministry of Health Technical Nutrition meetings.
