Preparations for next month’s FNCE® in Philadelphia are well underway, and by all accounts, it is shaping up to be a great one. This year, I will experience FNCE® as your Chair of the Foundation. I am looking forward to thanking donors, catching up with colleagues, taking in some great sessions and representing our Foundation. There will be many different ways you will able to interact and support the Foundation throughout the conference, I hope you will take advantage of a few of them to learn a little more about all the ways your Foundation empowers you to be your best.
On Saturday, October 26, plan to get to Philadelphia a day ahead of time to take advantage of the Foundation Symposia. We will be hosting three educational symposiums throughout the day that will provide you with an easy and economical way to earn additional CPEUs. All information on these relevant and topical sessions can be found here and I would like to thank our sponsors who help provide these symposiums to you at such a great cost.
The Foundation booth also opens on Saturday and will be located within the Broad Street Atrium on the 100 Level of the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Visit us at any time over the course of the conference to chat with our friendly staff and learn more about the ways our Foundation is here to help you as you progress through your career. You will also be able to make a $20 donation for a Foundation tote-bag, purchase beautiful, hand-made jewelry from our very own Academy member and donor, Mary Abbott Hess, and bid on exciting silent auction items including, four signed copies of FNCE keynote speaker Adam Grant’s NY Times best-selling books, an autographed soccer ball by FNCE keynote speaker Abby Wambach, hotel stays, designer purses, spa gift certificates and many more items. Academy students will also be stopping by the booth to pick up their $100 student stipends which help them offset their travel costs to FNCE®. These stipends are only made possible through the generosity of our donors. If you would like to donate a student stipend or if you are a student who will be attending the conference, click here to learn more about donating or applying.
Monday, October 28, will bring us to my favorite event of the year, our Foundation Gala. The first time I attended a Gala, videos of scholarship recipients and Foundation fellows played throughout the evening as they told their “story”. The selfless work of these colleagues was moving and inspired me to start down my path with the Foundation, first as a donor, volunteer, board member and now Chair. I am looking forward to emceeing a great night, please join your fellow colleagues and members in getting dressed up and enjoying live entertainment, great food and a festive atmosphere that is always THE social event of FNCE®. If you are not able to attend the Gala this year, you can always purchase a ticket that can sponsor a student and provide a great opportunity for someone who is just starting out on their career path to get involved with our Foundation. Full details as well as ticket and table information can be found here.
I look forward to seeing you in Philadelphia and if you won’t be able to join us, but still want to support the Foundation, you may always donate online!

These donations help provide scholarships, fellowships, awards, grants and disaster relief support to hundreds your colleagues around the globe, making a direct impact on their lives as well as the profession. Each month we will highlight a Foundation donor and recipient.
Our Foundation is exclusively focused on nutrition and dietetics and does not receive any portion of member dues.
