March means many things to many people, the beginning of Spring, St. Patrick’s Day, March Madness, but for RDNs it also means National Nutrition Month®. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and its Eat Right, Bite by Bite Campaign has many great resources that you can use to encourage your clients and communities to make informed food choices and develop sound eating and physical activity habits. The month also celebrates National RDN Day on March 11. Our Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Academy and we are proud to work with the Academy this March and throughout the year to help create a world where all people thrive through the transformative power of food and nutrition.
March also signifies the opening of the Foundation’s scholarship application. As the world’s largest provider of dietetic scholarships, we offer opportunities for students at all levels of study. I encourage you to apply and share this information with your colleagues. Over the last three years, the Foundation has provided $1,575,900 in scholarships to 1,187 students.
This investment in the current and next generation of food and nutrition practitioners was all made possible through the generosity of our donors. Donors like Leslie J. Bonci, RDN, CSSD, LDN, a sports dietitian for the 2020 Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs who “gives back and gives on” with her gifts to our Foundation. Please remember the Foundation when renewing your Academy membership online or
donate today. Through your generosity we are empowering current and future food and nutrition practitioners to optimize global health.
