A Month of Giving Thanks!

November is a time of year where we celebrate thankfulness. I am grateful for so much including everyone who participated in Foundation virtual events last month at FNCE®. Whether you bid on a silent auction item, donated to our No Show Gala or got outside and participated in our virtual 5k Run/Walk, you helped support our profession through your participation.

I was honored to represent our Foundation throughout FNCE® as a virtual event, and even though we weren’t in person this year, I was overwhelmed by the participation and interaction in sessions, chat rooms and at the Foundation virtual booth. Now, more than ever, I cherish the opportunities to connect with my colleagues.

If you haven’t had a chance to check out our Second Century Member Campaign video and Impact Report, I urge you to do so. Academy leaders, members and organizations stepped up and met the challenge to raise $5M to support projects and programs in the areas of prevention and well-being, health care and health systems and food and nutrition safety and security. The impact these programs will have on the future of our profession will be tremendous.

As we celebrate Thanksgiving later this month and enjoy the holiday season, I want to express my thanks and gratitude to everyone who donates their time, treasure and talent to our organization.  Because of you, our Foundation can touch the lives of so many Academy members and truly make a difference.  Hundreds of Academy members benefit from your donations each year through your support.

A perfect opportunity to give back and support our Foundation will be on December 1 during the nationally recognized #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration.  Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, the day kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.  As you consider donating to your favorite charities, please remember the one devoted to your very own chosen profession, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation.  Together we are helping create a world where all people thrive through the transformative power of food and nutrition!

With Your Help, We Can Do Even More
