Every August, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and our Foundation put a spotlight on the importance of healthful eating and active lifestyles for children and their families. The Kids Eat Right program was created by the Academy and our Foundation in 2014 and mobilizes registered dietitian nutritionists, and nutrition and dietetic technicians, registered, in a grassroots movement to share healthful eating messages to help families embrace nutritious eating habits.
While everyone is getting ready to go back to school, there are many ways to support parents, families, and educators to help kids eat well and have fun, whether it’s at home, school, or other places where our kids eat and learn. You can find many incredible resources for community leaders, schools, parents and kids, and RDNs here. With ideas for every age group from infants to teens, this is a program we all be proud to promote. I encourage you to tap into the resources and promote the program in your community and on social media.
The Foundation also has a Kids Eat Right e-newsletter that includes helpful articles, research and recipes. To receive the newsletter every Monday, click here to subscribe and you’ll always be up to date on all the latest Foundation news.
