Happy New Year!
On behalf of our Foundation Board of Directors and Staff, I wish you a happy and successful 2021! We are looking forward to another prosperous year contributing to the lives of hundreds of Academy members through our annual scholarships, awards and research grants. We would not be able to positively impact our members without your generous support. Our Foundation takes great pride and care to be good stewards of your financial contributions and ensure these resources help empower Academy members to help consumers live healthier lifestyles.
Our Foundation’s 2021 Award and Research Grant applications are currently open and I encourage you to check out these great opportunities. There are awards for students as well as seasoned professionals such as continuing education, recognition, international and program development. Unless otherwise indicated, the application deadline for all awards and grants is February 1, 2021. These awards and grants empower our members and elevate our profession.
Also, we are proud to announce our Foundation is seeking an RDN member of the Academy to serve as a fellow to lead the Foundation’s “Prioritizing Diversity and Inclusion in Nutrition and Dietetics: Overcoming Obstacles to RDN Recruitment, Education and Advancement” Fellowship. The Foundation has worked closely with many member leaders and Academy and Foundation committees, councils and groups on the development of this opportunity.
The Foundation’s Fellowship program deploys dynamic registered dietitian nutritionists in the U.S. and globally to address the greatest food and nutrition challenges throughout the world, and this Fellowship will continue in the spirit of the program. With a focus on education and leadership opportunities within the profession, the fellow will build upon the work of the Academy’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee and will work closely with Academy groups including the D&I Committee, the Research, International and Scientific Affairs team and the Foundation.
