Donors Empowr Academy Members Through our Foundation!
Our Foundation makes a tremendous impact on thousands of Academy members each year through our scholarships, awards, research grants, fellowships, disaster relief efforts and public health and nutrition education programs like Kids Eat Right and Future of Food. I am amazed by the great work our scholarship, award and grant recipients are doing throughout our profession and inspired by their stories. They have a passion and intense desire to make a difference in their chosen field and your donations are helping make that happen.
One fine example is accomplished Academy member, Terry Brown, MPH, MBA, RD, LD, CNSC, who received our 2020 Beatrice Donaldson David Graduate Scholarship in Foodservice Administration which was critical in supporting her continuing education. Terry is completing her doctorate in Clinical Nutrition at Rutgers School of Health Professions (N.J.), and has published research pertaining to enteral nutrition and submitted a manuscript examining Wernicke’s encephalopathy related to bariatric surgery. Terry is the current Director for the Medical City Healthcare Dietetic Internship Program (Texas) and is an Academy leader as well, serving on the Diversity and Inclusion Leaders Program from 2013 to 2016, a current member of the Academy’s Quality Management Committee and an active ACEND program reviewer.
Terry’s accomplishments and goals are truly inspiring and just one of many 2020 Scholarship, Award and Grant recipients that have been empowered through your donations. Our 2020 Donor Report recognizes everyone who supported our Foundation with a gift of $50 or more between June 1, 2019 to May 31, 2020. Through your generosity we are empowering Academy members to supporting nutrition and dietetics professionals by empowering to help consumers live healthier lifestyles.
