Why Care About the Food System?


Module 1 begins building a food systems foundation, including why it’s important for nutrition and dietetics professionals to care about food systems.

Learning outcomes from this module include:

  • Describing the growing interest in sustainable food systems from individuals, institutions, and policymakers.
  • Identifying core skills of the nutrition and dietetics profession that are especially helpful in navigating issues in the food system.
  • Identifying ways that familiarity with sustainable food systems can help RDNs and NDTRs meet their goals in a variety of practice settings.
