In October of this year, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation turns 60, and we have so much to celebrate.
Since 1966, generations of donors, volunteers, partners, and nutrition and dietetics professionals have come together around a shared belief: investing in our profession can change lives. As we look back on the Foundation’s impact over the last year, it’s clear that this spirit of generosity and possibility is stronger than ever.
Last year,* the Foundation provided more than $1.35 million in funding to 380 registered dietitian nutritionists, nutrition and dietetics technicians, registered, and students through scholarships, awards, research grants, and fellowships.
Those numbers represent hundreds of individual stories. A student who can continue pursuing their education with less financial stress. A researcher with the resources to explore an emerging topic. A practitioner whose outstanding work is recognized and elevated. A fellow gaining the experience and opportunity to help shape the future of food, nutrition, and health.
The year also showed what our community can accomplish when we dream big together. The Make It a Million Scholarship Campaign surpassed its ambitious goal, raising $1,078,945 to create educational opportunities and strengthen the future of the profession. On the Foundation’s 2026 Give Day, donors contributed nearly $40,000, demonstrating once again that gifts of every size can add up to extraordinary impact.
This work is powered by people. More than 130 volunteers shared their time, expertise, and care throughout the year, reviewing applications, serving on committees, supporting programs, and helping ensure that Foundation resources reach deserving students and professionals.
For 60 years, the Foundation has transformed generosity into opportunity, discovery, leadership, and progress. Because the Foundation does not receive a portion of Academy membership dues, every achievement is made possible by those who choose to believe in this mission and help carry it forward.
