The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation supports nutrition and dietetics professionals, educators, organizations, and community leaders working to advance food and nutrition security. Through collaborative initiatives, practical tools, educational resources, and fellowship-supported work, the Foundation has helped build awareness, strengthen professional knowledge, and encourage action across the food system. Future of Food

Launched in 2012 in collaboration with Feeding America and National Dairy Council, the Future of Food initiative has helped position nutrition and dietetics professionals to address food insecurity, hunger, malnutrition, food waste, agriculture, and the development of healthy and sustainable food systems.

Food Security Solutions

Communities often understand their most pressing food security challenges but need a clear process for determining where limited resources can have the greatest impact.

The Food Security Solutions Prioritization Process provides a practical, four-step framework to help community partners identify unmet needs, develop and assess possible solutions, and prioritize approaches based on their anticipated costs, benefits, and feasibility.

Accelerating Food Security

The COVID-19 pandemic placed extraordinary pressure on food assistance programs while also prompting rapid innovation across the charitable food system. Through the “Accelerating Food Security: Supply Chain Innovation” Fellowship, the Foundation worked to identify and learn from innovative programs developed by food banks and other organizations to help individuals and families access nutritious food during the pandemic and beyond. The project focused on preserving lessons from these adaptations and exploring how they could inform stronger, more responsive food and nutrition services in the future.
