Completing a Dietetic Internship at Be Well Solutions

“Receiving the scholarship from the Foundation is a transformative milestone on my journey to becoming a registered dietitian. With this support, I can continue my education and gain the knowledge and skills needed to make a meaningful impact on underserved communities. This scholarship not only alleviates financial burdens but also provides me with the confidence and resources to pursue a doctoral program and research opportunities, enabling me to contribute to research-driven solutions for health disparities and nutritional education. It empowers me to work towards my dream of bridging gaps in nutrition access, empowering individuals to make healthier choices, and ultimately improving the health outcomes of marginalized populations. I am deeply grateful for this opportunity, and I am committed to paying it forward by actively engaging in community outreach and advocacy to address nutrition-related disparities.”

How did you learn about the availability of the Foundation scholarship that you received?

I learned about the availability of the Foundation scholarship through an AND board member, who informed me about this incredible opportunity to support my educational and professional pursuits in the field of dietetics and nutrition.

What motivated you to apply for a Foundation Scholarship?

I was motivated to apply because of my unwavering passion for advancing the cause of nutrition equity and access, particularly in urban areas. Witnessing the significant impact that diet and nutrition have on people's health and well-being, I felt a strong calling to make a positive change in my community and beyond. This scholarship represents not only financial support but also a network of like-minded individuals and organizations dedicated to the same mission. It's an opportunity to further my education and skills, empowering me to effect meaningful change and contribute to the promotion of health and wellness among underserved populations.

How will the scholarship funds help support your continued success within your educational program?

This scholarship will alleviate my financial burden and allow me to fully concentrate on my coursework, research, and professional development. It is a beacon of hope, demonstrating that my dedication and potential are recognized and supported. I believe investing in my education is an investment in a brighter future for me and the communities I aspire to serve as a skilled and compassionate professional.

What advice do you have for your colleagues about seeking out and applying for Foundation funding opportunities?

Speak from your heart. Your story matters! Often, we downplay the journey that brought us to where we are today, simply because we've lived it, and it feels like the norm. Remember that your experiences, challenges, and triumphs are a testament to your resilience and determination. They not only define your unique path but also inspire and guide others who may be on similar journeys. Your story is a source of strength and connection, reminding us all that every step taken, every obstacle overcome, and every aspiration pursued is a vital part of the collective human narrative.

Also, be sure to network actively. Cultivate connections with professionals, mentors, and peers. It's always good to have people in the field advocate for you fiercely through letters of recommendations.

Lastly, underscore the impact you intend to make in your field and community through the funding. Demonstrating a clear vision of how the support will bring about positive change can make your application stand out.
