Foundation General Scholarship
Completing a Didactic Program in Dietetics at Kansas State University
“The support of the scholarship from the Foundation will help me achieve my goal of becoming a registered dietitian and allow me to help those with metabolic disorders. The aid I receive will help me fund my education by paying for my tuition, lab kits, books, and school supplies. It will alleviate financial stress, thus giving me more capacity to focus on my studies and volunteer opportunities such as Meals on Wheels. The investment of the Foundation will fuel my drive to graduate with honors and move on to a master’s degree and internship program.” |
How did you learn about the availability of the Foundation scholarship that you received?
I learned about the availability of the Foundation scholarship from my DPD director Heidi Oberrieder at Kansas State University. I also learned more about the process of applying for the Foundation scholarship through attending Carl Barnes’, RD2BE Scholarship Workshop.
What motivated you to apply for a Foundation Scholarship?
I was motivated to apply because of my financial need. I felt inspired to apply when I learned that the Foundation offers scholarships to support Academy student members, at all levels of study. I admire the fact that my profession invests in its students because they are dedicated to advancing the field of dietetics.
How will the scholarship funds help support your continued success within your educational program?
Receiving a Foundation scholarship will increase my motivation to do well in school and ease my financial burden. With this scholarship I will be able to continue my studies full time and concentrate entirely on academics during this upcoming school year. It allows me to stay on course to graduate in 2025. I can also add on more classes, especially if I want to participate in the accelerated master’s program at Kansas State University. It will save me from taking on too many student loans, which will help me in the near future when I apply for a master’s program and internship program to become a registered dietitian.
What advice do you have for your colleagues about seeking out and applying for Foundation funding opportunities?
My advice for my colleagues is to be aware of the deadline dates and to start your application early as it requires a lot of time and reflection. Do not be afraid to apply, there are many scholarships available for all levels of education.
