Advancing Diversity in Dietetics Scholarship

Thank you for your interest in the Foundation’s newest scholarship. The Foundation’s Advancing Diversity in Dietetics Scholarship was established to support the educational advancement of aspiring registered dietitian nutritionists of diverse backgrounds or cultures. The scholarship aims to increase racial and ethnic diversity in the dietetics field to better reflect diverse communities served, and to address underrepresentation and financial need.

The Advancing Diversity in Dietetics Scholarship will provide two recipients with $25,000 each for the 2021-2022 academic year.

Important Dates

2021-2022 Academic Year Scholarships:

Advancing Diversity in Dietetics Scholarship Application Opening: April 5, 2021

Advancing Diversity in Dietetics Scholarship Application Deadline: May 3, 2021 at 5 p.m. (Central time)

Advancing Diversity in Dietetics Scholarship Notifications: Select applicants will be invited to interview in late June 2021. All winner and non-winner notifications for the Advancing Diversity in Dietetics Scholarship will be sent via email in early-mid July 2021. Foundation staff cannot provide interim information, feedback on scholarship applications, or a specific date that notifications will be sent.

The Advancing Diversity in Dietetics Scholarship application will be made available within the Foundation’s online application platform, linked below, on April 5, 2021.

Please note, the Advancing Diversity in Dietetics Scholarship application is separate from the general Foundation Scholarship application.

If you would like to also be considered for other scholarships the Foundation is offering for the 2021-2022 academic year, please complete both the general Foundation Scholarship application and the Advancing Diversity in Dietetics Scholarship application.

All materials for the Advancing Diversity in Dietetics Scholarship application, including your resume, transcripts and letters of recommendation, are due by Monday, May 3, 2021 at 5 p.m. (Central time). Please be aware that the general Foundation Scholarship application has a different, earlier deadline of Friday, April 23, 2021, at 10 a.m. (Central time).

Eligibility

To be considered eligible for the Advancing Diversity in Dietetics Scholarship, the applicant must:

  • Disclose that they are from a diverse background or culture.
  • Disclose that they are a US citizen or permanent resident.
  • Demonstrate financial need.
  • Be enrolled for a minimum of four months of the academic year in one of the following types of programs:
    • An ACEND-accredited Dietetic Internship Program.
    • A graduate or doctoral level, ACEND-accredited Coordinated Program in Dietetics or Future Education Model Graduate Program.
    • An ACEND-accredited Individualized Supervised Practice Pathway.
  • Have completed a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and received a Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) verification statement/certificate from an ACEND-accredited program.
  • Preference will be given to a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
