October Always Means FNCE®!

What do you think of when you realize it's October? Pumpkin-flavored everything? Halloween? If you're an Academy member, October means FNCE®. This year's FNCE® in Washington, DC offers many exciting Foundation-related activities. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, three Foundation Nutrition Symposia are offered on Saturday, October 20, giving you the opportunity to earn CPEU for a minimal fee.

  • Crohn's & Colitis Foundation through an educational grant from Nestle Health Science
  • Nature Made
  • Ajinomoto Health and Nutrition

On Sunday, October 21, there is a Meet the Fellows session, where you have a chance to chat with recipients of Foundation-funded fellowships. These talented individuals are doing great things in areas like sustainability and alleviating hunger and malnutrition, both locally and globally.

I have the honor of personally thanking many people at FNCE®, including our 50-year members at their tea on Saturday, October 20. Their loyalty and service are unparalleled. We will also be thanking our Foundation donors at a special reception on Sunday. And I do hope you've purchased your ticket to the Foundation Gala on Monday, October 22, which benefits the Foundation's Annual Fund. It's a reception format like last year, with heavy hors d'oeuvres, cocktails, great music and dancing, as well as tributes to Foundation award recipients and donors.

Finally, please stop by the Foundation booth located in the Grand Lobby at the Washington Convention Center at any time during FNCE®. There you can join your colleagues in making a Second Century donation, bid on a silent auction item, and even participate in our jewelry sale. All the jewelry has been generously donated by former Academy President, Mary Abbott Hess. I look forward to seeing you a FNCE® this month!
