May Chair Message

Thanks for Two Great Years!

I'm sure you'll read plenty of messages this month from Academy members in leadership roles saying things like, "It's hard to believe it's May already", or "I can't believe my term is ending", and I confess, I have the same sentiments. These past two years as Chair of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation have gone by quickly, providing many happy recollections of the positive effects of your generosity.

We just received more than 1,100 applications for Foundation scholarships – the largest ever! In order to fulfill our mission – Through philanthropy, empower current and future food and nutrition practitioners to optimize global health – we need to continue our fundraising efforts to meet the ever-growing demand. We want to be there to support those in and entering our profession, at every step along the way.

We couldn't have accomplished the good work of this past year without the selflessness and dedication of our Foundation staff and Board. I am grateful to both groups, whose positive attitude and immediate response have made working in this role a true pleasure. I would like to acknowledge those individuals rotating off our Board after May 31:

Thanks to each of them for their diligence, enthusiasm, and generosity. We will all be in excellent hands with incoming Foundation Chair, Kathy Wilson-Gold, MS, RDN, LD, FAND, and I look forward to giving her my full support as I move into the role of Past Chair for 2019-20. Thank you to the Foundation Board members continuing their terms on the Board. I look forward to another year working with you. Finally, thanks to each and every one of you reading this message, who, by your generosity and sacrifice, has made a difference in the lives of so many in our profession. I am grateful from the bottom of my heart.
