2022 Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation Diversity Scholarship

Completing a Doctoral Program at University of Missouri, St. Louis

“Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation Diversity Scholarship will play an important role in reducing the financial burden and will help me complete my doctoral degree in Adult Education (Ed. D) in a timely manner. As an Ed. D student, I will be working with my team members who are Occupational Therapists on a group dissertation to understand the value of Interprofessional Collaborative Practice through lived experiences of health care faculty members. I believe that this scholarship will help me achieve my academic goals and will help me in advancing the dietetics profession by highlighting the role of RDNs as valuable members of interprofessional teams in health care settings.”

How did you learn about the availability of the Foundation scholarship that you received?

I found out about the availability of the Foundation scholarship through the Academy Eblasts and social media communications.

What motivated you to apply for a Foundation Scholarship?

I had been looking for a financial support to cover for some of my educational expenses. While enrolling in the Ed. D program, I had to cut back on my paid work hours to be able to focus on studies. I was instantly motivated to apply for the Foundation scholarship and I am very thankful to the Academy for trusting in me.

How will the scholarship funds help support your continued success within your educational program?

The Ed. D program from University of Missouri St. Louis is a cohort-based program which means that courses are planned ahead of time, and it is important to register for the courses as per the schedule to be able to complete the program along with the class. This scholarship has provided the financial cushioning which will help me immensely in my educational journey.
