Foundation at FNCE®

Sign up for Foundation events when registering for FNCE®!

FNCE® registration is now open and we are excited to see everyone in Denver this October. Did you know you can also register for Foundation events during the online registration process of log back in at any time to add an event to your registration dashboard?

When you register and participate in a Foundation FNCE® event, you help make a difference in the lives of your fellow Academy members, through scholarships, awards, grants, fellowships, nutrition public education programs and disaster relief efforts. Proceeds from all Foundation FNCE events and sponsorships benefit our Annual Fund and used where needed most. We rely on these events to help sustain our annual, ongoing programs.

So please join us for any or all of these events in Denver this year or virtually through our 5k Run/Walk or Silent Auction, and you will be helping students like Sandra pursue their dreams of becoming a Registered Dietitian!

As defined in the Academy’s Code of Ethics, all members must abide by a set of core values: customer focus, integrity, innovation, social responsibility, and diversity. Moreover, the Academy encourages inclusion, diversity, equity, and access (IDEA) by striving to recognize, respect and include differences in ability, age, creed, culture, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, political affiliation, race, religion, sexual orientation, size, and socioeconomic characteristics in the nutrition and dietetics profession.

To these ends, this session will showcase the first-ever comprehensive research study that authenticates the realities of the potential impacts of food shaming for multiple, diverse consumer audiences. The research will provide the backbone to help RDNs continue building more meaningful, open conversations on the topic and to hear from experts on how to craft messages that resonate with all consumers.

For complete information on this session, including learning objectives, speaker information, and how to register, please visit the Foundation Pre-FNCE® Nutrition Symposia page.

All Academy members can participate in these next two events whether in person at FNCE® or virtually during FNCE® week!

Foundation Virtual Silent Auction

The Foundation Silent Auction is always one of the most popular live events at FNCE® each year, with a wide variety of items that help raise thousands of dollars for the Foundation’s Annual Fund. This year’s Silent Auction will feature a few select items for viewing at our Foundation booth at the Colorado Conference Center while all bidding will be virtual, providing 24-hour mobile bidding, and item descriptions, pictures and donor recognition. Bidding will run from Thursday, October 6 at noon to October 10 at noon Mountain.

Academy members, Affiliates, Dietetic Practice Groups and Member Interest Groups are encouraged to donate an item or basket to show your support. All donors are visibly recognized and thanked within the virtual app next to their items and the more items we have, the more funds we will be able to raise. Click here to donate an item.

Donate to the Make It a Million Scholarship Campaign

Lastly, during the online FNCE® registration process, you can choose to make a donation of any amount to our Make It a Million Dollar Campaign and help us reach our goal of raising $1M over the next two years to enable us to award $1M in scholarships annually staring in 2025. This is an easy way to invest in our Academy student members and help build the next generation of food and nutrition practitioners.

I am so grateful for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and their effort to provide our Foundation with so many ways to engage with Academy members during FNCE® week. I am looking forward to October already.

Lastly, let’s all welcome Wylecia Wiggs Harris, PhD, CAE, as our new Academy and Foundation Chief Executive Officer, we are looking forward to her leadeship!

Sincerely,

Susan Laramee, MS, RDN, FADA, FAND; Chair
2023-2024 Academy Foundation Chair
