During this time of giving thanks, I want to thank everyone who gives back to our Foundation. You do this when you support one of our initiatives with a donation or you volunteer on behalf of our Founation on a committee or through your affiliate. Due to all the support we receive from Academy members, we can impact the lives of thousands of food and nutrition professionals each year with scholarships, awards, research grants, fellowships, public nutrition education programs and disaster relief efforts.
Just recently, we launched our Dollar by Dollar, Scholar by Scholar campaign to share the stories of our scholarship, award and grant recipients. Each week, on our Foundation website, in the Academy’s Eat Right Weekly and in the Kids Eat Right Monday Message, we feature a new recipient. These are your fellow Academy members who are benefiting from the generosity of our donors, like you. I urge you to read these inspiring stories.
Our Academy Foundation was established in 1966 with a donation to provide a scholarship for a deserving student. Now, more than 50 years later, Foundation donors have helped the Foundation become the world’s largest provider of scholarships to students focused on the food and nutrition profession at all levels of study.
Despite our growth, the demand for scholarships in terms of the number of applications we receive each year, still outnumbers the scholarships we can award almost three to one. To keep up with this demand, we have recently launched our Make It a Million Scholarship Campaign. Our goal is to raise $1 million in new dollars over the next three years to build Foundation reserves which will allow us to award $1 million in scholarships annually starting in 2025 and for years to come. I ask you to please consider making a charitable contribution this holiday season to support this campaign. With your help, we can do even more, dollar by dollar, scholar by scholar!

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation is accepting applications for its annual research grants and recognition, continuing education, program development, and international awards. Opportunities for funding exist for credentialed practitioners, educators, students, and more. Applications are available within the Foundation’s application portal with a deadline of February 20, 2024, at 5:00 pm (Central Time).
