How did you learn about the availability of the Foundation scholarship that you received?
I learned about it through the Foundation's website.
What motivated you to apply for a Foundation Scholarship?
I spoke with one of my professors about my financial struggle and she encouraged me to apply for the Foundation's scholarship. I was very hesitant because I had applied for it several times in the past and was not selected but I decided to apply again. Never give up hope. If at first you don't succeed, just try again.
How will the scholarship funds help support your continued success within your educational program?
I've been working 3 jobs in order to get the finances to pay for my tuition. Most of the time, I find myself reading through an article only to complete an assignment. I hardly had the time to read and enjoy the full length of the article. Thanks to this scholarship, I can resign from two jobs to create ample time for me to truly enjoy my studies.
What advice do you have for your colleagues about seeking out and applying for Foundation funding opportunities?
Make sure you fill out the application to its entirety and don't forget to upload all your transcripts. Also, never give up. Keep applying and letting the Foundation hear your story and the great work you are doing in the field of nutrition. It took me several trials so don't give up.
Scholarship and Award Application and Timeline Information
All applications and timelines for Foundation funding opportunities are made available electronically within the Foundation’s application portal. Generally, the scholarship applications are available from mid- February to mid-April, most award and grant applications are available from December to February, and fellowship opportunities are posted as they become available.
