Katharine S. Middleton Memorial / Chicago Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Scholarship
Completing a Coordinated Graduate Program in Dietetics at University of Southern California
“This scholarship means the world to me! I am a first-generation college student and the first in my entire family to ever obtain a graduate degree. I am incredibly grateful to have the financial support to apply towards my degree and dietetic internship. My ultimate goal is to contribute to the health and wellbeing of my community and humanity as a whole. I fully believe that food has the power to heal and want to work towards making the knowledge and resources accessible to all.” |
How did you learn about the availability of the Foundation scholarship that you received?
I learned about the Foundation scholarship through the website.
What motivated you to apply for a Foundation Scholarship?
I was motivated to apply for a Foundation scholarship because I am paying for my own education and was hoping to ease some of the financial burden that comes with graduate school. I was thrilled to see that there were so many wonderful scholarship opportunities for dietetic students through the Foundation.
How will the scholarship funds help support your continued success within your educational program?
This scholarship will help me to focus more on my studies and internship during my final year. Additionally, I am required to complete a capstone research project. I have chosen to undertake original research which requires more hours and is unpaid. This scholarship will help support my research which will focus on nutrition in both Alzheimer's and healthy aging.
What advice do you have for your colleagues about seeking out and applying for Foundation funding opportunities?
I like to make a spreadsheet of any scholarships or funding opportunities that are out there to stay organized and not miss deadlines. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time to get all of your documents, forms, and essays together before the funding applications are due.
Scholarship and Award Application and Timeline Information
All applications and timelines for Foundation funding opportunities are made available electronically within the Foundation’s application portal.
