How did you learn about the availability of Foundation scholarships and what motivated you to apply?
I learned about the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics scholarships from the University of Alabama. Unfortunately, distance students are not eligible for any scholarships that are available for on-campus students. This scholarship is my only chance to make my family proud and to make it to the finish line of becoming a Registered Dietitian.
Describe the financial impact that this scholarship will have on your educational journey this year.
Receiving this scholarship gave me the financial security to study full-time in the spring of 2025 to fulfill my dream in becoming a Registered Dietitian. Since my family's budget is very tight, without this, I would not be able to register for more than one class in the spring of 2025 semester.
What advice do you have for other students and professionals who are considering applying for Foundation funding?
I would give advice to another student to volunteer for a cause you are passionate about. Regardless of the funding, volunteering will give you unmatched experience you cannot learn in a classroom and a sense of accomplishment, pride and sense of fulfillment along with meaningful social connections and friendships.
Scholarship and Award Application and Timeline Information
All applications and timelines for Foundation funding opportunities are made available electronically within the Foundation’s application portal. Generally, the scholarship applications are available from mid- February to mid-April, most award and grant applications are available from December to February, and fellowship opportunities are posted as they become available.
